I backed her down. I'm just trying to find out how high my memory can go and we're so close to 2100

tj is wrapped up in other stuff, be patient.. He posted a couple weeks ago letting us know he wouldn't be updating regularly for a little bit.... But I do recommend everyone stop into page one post one and give the guy a rep... He has very few for a guy who started a thread that has 742 posts and counting....

intel absolute maximum is listed as follows
vcore - 1.40
cpu vtt - 1.40
VDDQ - 1.80 (something to do with the ram)
cpu pll 1.98

I havent fully dove into the data sheet.. I may today, it will appear that I am working

I dont know if this absolute maximum is including vcc overshoot (voltage spike of .05 from load to idle transition) or not.... If it does include vcc overshoot and 1.40 is absolute max, then the highest we should safely run is 1.35v....

Stability issues

Ok I passed 10+hrs of sm fft....8 hrs of blend and a small 5 pass test of IBT and considered my rig to be stable. However I did notice that in my daily operation when I would try to use my WDTV Live to stream movies from the PC to my 2 flat screen TVs it took longer for the WDTV to access my movie files and sometimes failed to do so on the first try. Confusing but ......Last night the symptoms were the same but about 30 minutes into the movie the tv screen froze acting all weird. So I pull the power plug on the WDTV coz that usually cures any weirdness. Didn't help, still funky so I go to reboot the computer and the mouse won't move. Hard reset and everything is cool but the freezing problem persists on the WDTV box.

Ok, I'm thinking I must have borked my OS while benching earlier that evening---a distinct possibility for sure. I decided to up the V-core a bit since my clocks were on what seemed to be very low volts for 4.0 GHz. I bump it 3 notches and wow the WDTV box is back to it's old self as far as speed (still fairly slow but normal) and the freezing issue is gone from the Tv screen and from the PC.

So it just goes to show you that even tho you can pass stability tests you still may not be able to operate in everyday use and be stable. In my case I needed a bit more V-core than the tests needed in order to achieve stability in daily use

I love the WDTV box, best investment I have made in a long time.. I dont have the newer version with wireless tho, I use a USB HD to store video and just transfer it back n forth.. But no need for bluray media or burners/players.. Its great...

Kinda strange issues tho.. Does streaming to the WDTV box use alot of system resource?

No it doesn't use much resource. I think I was running lean on V-core (to use an analogy).

When I had the Q9650 I could have 15 tabs open -my stock streamer running- download a movie---stream 2 different movies to the WD boxes at the same time and it wouldn't break a sweat. I haven't tried all of that yet with this processor---but I can tell you that I am seeing improved performance already just with a small bump in V-core. Everything is snappier than before.

I have the older versions of WDTV box also but I stream files from my PC to the router then to 2 boxes via cat6 cable. Up until last night I had no issues and now with a small v-core bump the performance is back to where it should be

Some sweet looking clocks there I am a bit jealous...

Welcome to Overclock.net.. Its a great site....

To have your system specs show in every post fill them out here - http://www.overclock.net/specs.php?do=addsystem

@ denny - One thing is for sure, this cpu at slower clock speeds is better than my 9550 was.. 3D benching has it equal to my 9550 @ 4.25 with the 760 @ 3.78..

My vantage score with the 760 @ 3.80 is about 200 points higher than the 9550 @ 4.25.
The DDR3 @ 1600 vs DDR2 @ 1000 helps as well....
Going to bench a little this weekend I think...

If that's your ram, its 1.65, not 1.35.
