I would say 81 as a max isn't that bad i'd be looking for what it usually is hovering around. like my max was 82 but it hovered around 78 or 79..

Your 212 is supposed to be a good cooler though, for air anyways. So try reseating it.. and make sure you have good case air flow. these are all things that helped me some.
It usually hovers around 78c yes. I don't know what more I can do about airflow, I have 2 intake (front/side), 2 exhaust (top/rear). My case: http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/prod...roduct_id=3009

While running IBT, I tried touching the Heatsink to see if it was hot and I thought it was pretty difficult to tell (maybe cause my hands are kinda cold atm, idk). It felt kinda warm I guess but really not by much. It definitely didn't feel hot or I would've known.

I tried running optimized settings in the bios, turned turbo off and CPU Z displays a VCORE of 1.088 V - don't know if that means anything, is that good or bad for this chip?

(Although when I don't game, I have a profile to run at 2.8ghz with all power saving features enabled. At full load under LinX, the VCORE is 0.976V (stable) and doesn't get past 45c)

I just wish I knew someone with a Hyper 212 with similar settings to compare. I applied the TIM the same way they show it here at the image QP2: http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appm..._line_v1.1.pdf

I will attempt reseating if I can get some more feedback.

Most i5-760's run pretty hot once you get up around 4.0Ghz....

Unfortunately thats about the best answer anyone can give you, there are a few others running a 760 & 212 and are having similar temps..

Been the proud owner of a 760 for just over a week now(along with ga-H55-ud2) and am really impressed with it's versatility. I have never clocked in my life cos I have been stuck with an oem board(acer) until I completely overhauled a week ago. Clocking this is as easy as 123.

I'm on 3.6 @ 1.18v 38c, had it up to 4ghz but temps were idling @ 48c so.........

I think it's been my experience that these really do run hot.. And you say that its set to 1.29 in the bios for the vcore and your only getting 1.088 in cpuz??
I would consider that bad.. thats a lot of drop, well over what mines dropping. Try enableing LLC.

No, I said that to find my default VID. When I set it to 1.29, I get 1.28V in CPU Z as shown in the screenshot.

1Oh ok, i thought you may have more problems than simply running hot..

Well someone stepped up to the plate and beat all my on air scores finally http://www.hwbot.org/hardware/proces...=cpubenchmarks. I said I was done but I find myself craving new RAM.

Glad to see a bunch of new submissions on there.

Yeah, I was kinda shocked there was so few submissions... Looks like HWBot just updated a bunch.

Looks like you only need a little push... Open the window, put the board outside on a cold night and get to work
