How can you guys bash something that isn't even out yet? You have no customer reviews, nothing coming close to real specifications, info leaks everywhere contradicting themselves, Xbox360 fan boys over exaggerating any and all information... It's all freaking retarded.
The entire PS3 look, including all the currently circulated pics of the console and controller has been admitted to be just one of the design choices available to them. Remember how many different case & system designs the 360 went through?
How can you people start talking about the speed of the cell and the configuration, when you have absolutely no knowledge and understanding of the architecture and its performance? We have no previous experiences to base game play performance on…
We don’t really know the level of performance of the NVIDIA designed chip being currently used by the PS3, from rumors it’s said to be around a 7800GTX, similar arch but higher performance (7900GTX?). Remember that the 360’s is like a X1900XTX, which I have verified directly from a few ATI engineers who work here in my home town, Marlborough, MA at the ATI research facility where the 360’s GPU was originally developed.
The PS3 is rumored not to have a HD, but these rumors have been explained to be false. The developers have all been informed to expect a HD as default. It’s going to be an integrated part of the Sony online community, akin to Xbox live. (Both have been confirmed)
The exact blu-ray drive specs aren’t written in stone, they have the option of putting any revision drive that choose to put in when they start large scale manufacturing. Hopefully with a faster read time, not like it’s going to really make a difference. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/638/638676p1.html
The built-in blu-ray drive is a main reason I’m getting a PS3. I’ll be able to get a nice console, with a next-gen high-density optical format reader. Which is what I imagine Sony is aiming for with having blu-ray being integrated. They’re going to get huge market penetration.
I personally think Sony will undercut the console to whatever level of price that they have to. Considering as mentioned above, the practical future of blue-ray is riding on this as well with the entire Sony name in the console market.
As with anything, we know nothing until the **** hits the fan. And just as a personal note, it seems like everyone here is viewing these consoles as computers comparing specs and the such. When in reality, all that matters with these proprietary systems is real world performance and the GAMES.
