I cant run 3DMark 05 or Aquamark3

Thread Starter
i have installed and tried both these program with my old GPU (X300) and they worked fine. now when i installed my new card (x850XT) I get problems with both programs

Aquamark has a hard time starting and somewhere durring the test it will just quit and then i get some wierd error message that is all code and numbers.

when i try and run 3DMark 05 i sometimes get the error that says "display changed" and it just stops the test and goes back to the main screen or i get the message in the image below.

3dmark doesn't like ATI cards.
Did you re-install the Catalyst drivers after swapping the cards? The best way is to clean off all ATI drivers before removing the old card, then power down, install the new card, and then re-install the drivers. Right now, I suggest you uninstall the drivers, then reboot, and re-install them again. Hope that works.

EDIT ( from http://windowssdk.msdn.microsoft.com...urn_Codes.asp: )
D3DERR_DEVICELOST
A Direct 3D device object other than the one that returned this code caused the hardware adapter to be reset by the OS.

Some other 3D device is creating havoc. I indeed suspect driver issues.

Firstly i would reinstall windows, I don't trust those drive cleaners. Nothing woks better like a fresh win install and the latest drivers installed.
If this doesn't work, try a BIOS update as I read some mobos have issues with various versions of 3Dmark.
When i wrote these I supposed your card is OK, there's no faulty GPU/mem. Does is have problems like this in other games/benchmarks?

i have a problem runing aqua mark 3 but i hear that that program is picky with lots of ati cards. it runs great with ati tools (245 fps) and never artifacts or anything with games (oc'ed to pe specs 560, 590). i figure if i have to go through all that to get 3dmark 05 to run its not really worth it. when i first installed the card i ran 3d mark with stock drivers and got around 6300 so that was pretty good. i guess i'll try and install the stock drivers that came with the card and see if that does anything.

Maybe there's just a lack of compatibility between 3Dm2005, your card and the omegas, if the games work fine I wouldn't bother either with all of these.
