Battlefield 2142 looks interesting as I was a big mechwarrior 4 fan and apparently mecha will be part of the package.
I don't know if anyone has corrected you, but auto assault will not be free online, requires a monthly subscription.

That could be a rare occurence but I don't think it is because I know a lot of people who do this, its like a test drive, especially for multiplayer capable games you try out the single player and if its decent you buy the real thing so that you can play online. Note, I don't condone this behavior just thought I'd share my experience with how it works.
I can't agree more. I'll be honest, I torrented COD2 at first, but I saw how good of a game it was, and I thought it was well worth my $50, so I bought it.

I think it's just the qaulity of games has been dropping over the years, I can't find a game I like anymore. I absolutley loved BF1942, it went downhill after that.

Don't get me wrong I like BF2 and can get into it once in a while, but it was nothing like BF1942.

You can talk about how piracy affects price.

But you cannot talk about you yourself pirating software. So dont do it. This is your reminder.

I like World Of WarCraft, but man... about 40$ to buy it then ~13-17$ a month to play =\\ I remember when it first came out it was around 60-80$ some places... Where do they think were getting all that money from? lol...
50$ is a lot of money to spend on games.. It also sucks because many of these games require CD keys you can't return them either, just hopefully sell them =\\
I can't remember a time when StarCraft was more then 20$ though, and it was/is an uber game ^^

I find fifty to be a good number for a quality game. Think about DVD Movies they cost 20 bucks and you watch them maybe 4 times a month. Games on the other hand you will most likely play at least 4 times a week. Also if you dont buy on the first run you can expect the price to drop to 40 bucks in usually the first month. After a few more months depending on how well it does. it could end up in walmart fro 20-30. As for play to play games. Maybe you wouldnt mind tons of advertising in the games. That would easily pay for the cost of servers to hold the games on. I personally dont play games that require a monthly fee. I found that I prefer to play RPGs all alone anyways. even in first person shooters. I prefer a game that I dont have to rely on AI controlled morons that I have to keep from dying. In delta force I could just kill my teamates and fight my way through the game. but in the later ones My team had to stay alive. I hate the fact that I am still fighting when they say I loose. And in battlefield it should be this way too. If I am alive when the tickets are gone let me die with some honor. I can mow down a few squads in a APC if you let me

I dont mind paying $50 bucks for a game if i end up playing it a lot, but that being said the games i'm playing right now: IL-2 flight sim line of games, X-COM(can still find it on-line) and World War 2 On-line(95% of my playtime)
X-com is the only one of those 3 that i play off-line and World war 2 OL is great for me because its not constant action and super-fast paced, which means i have time to do other stuff while i'm playing.
