I can read the news on my own time?

Thread Starter
Hey I don't really care to see um-teen articles from around the net from members that for what ever reason think we can't or don't read 50 pages of the stuff away from this site?

I don't complain much, if ever, but when several members start throwing several link site infomercials in a row it jams up the flow of the real world, real time, interaction of this site.

I have seen this SO! many times and I'd call it nothing more than padding ones posts numbers? I want a vote to end this soon and I will not stop until some rules are enforced.

Lets put it this way in the next hour would anyone care to estimate how many times anyone of us could post an article from the Inquire? Come on guys give me a break. Besides you don't want to get on my bad side, I quit smoking 3days ago and suddenly even the little things have no excuse if they are wrong?

Im not Getting you to be honest do you mean you wish to Ban all News or something. I personally dont see a problem with the point you put Across..Yes you get the Occasional silly post but with 21,000 members your bound to get a couple silly members wasting time. If you are fully Refering to people Providing links to News Articles and other such subjects i personally support it as it Informs other memebers on the site of what is going on around us.

A suggestion would be to have a separate category for this type of threads. There still might be the problem that those posts show up in the most recent posts list. Maybe we can lists newsposts in their own, smaller, recent posts list? I do believe that those news posts can contain interesting information.

Just a suggestion

Well if it Really Annoys people all that much then Yes make a seperate Section for Irrelevancy but you have to remember thats why we have the Off topic section people.

It's not really annoying me personally, but I can somewhat understand Oknilp's point. Opinions about these things vary obviously. Another interpretation of Oknilp's comment is that the 'most recent posts' list might be too short (I guess he refers to that when he says the posts "jams up the flow ...").

Dunno.. it's not bothering me that much personally.

I like the news people post here. I just wish sometimes the person posting would do a search before committing to the post so that way we don't get double.

Some members post a good story that we all read learn enjoy etc.... others post several posts one after the other with little or no comment point of view, just a basic link to a story and I honestly feel that this is a way for some members to increase there post count. Look back through the posts its very obvious. Like I said I am not one to gripe just to gripe. I live way out in the mountains I still use dial-up, I have no choice where I live. When I post it can take 20 min before I see my reply etc... in that same time frame I can see 10 of these oh so informative post padding links. Thats it. I don't really care if anything is done about it. I don't expect anything to change because 1 member has a gripe? I just wanted to make my point. I'm also glad that you took the time to listen. There are several things that we need to look at as our forum grows and I'm sure that those that are making the decisions are very aware of changes that are needed. Maybe I should keep count?

I believe that this post belongs in the "Rants" section. Just as one can bypass stations on the television one can bypass posts by not clicking on the links. Rather than try to change others it is far better to take charge of the abilities one has and that is to bypass links.

A rather simple and elegant solution.

Edit: The reason that this post belongs in the "Rants" section is because it is a "Rant" and it does not belong in the News section unless it is news that Oknilp is not pleased.

The flow and the topics are jamming this site up badly. If you think about it our name is OVERCLOCK.NET - OVERCLOCKERS.NET there needs to be a choice of three Modding- Overclocking- Gaming so those that are gaming enthusiast (mainly) have there area etc... etc... then the overflow of posts would be less like a pinball machine and more like a collective of the genre. But what do I know? I've only been here a short while? Thanks Man appreciate you.
