Sorry, I can't answer that question seeing as I don't have your card. You will probably be taking a risk when buying the game unless somone can say they have run it with your card.

thanks for your help anyway you have been very helpful. a friend of mine has a Nvidia GeForce mx 440 128mb and he played sims 2 on 1024 x 768 with settings around the medium area (some set o low) and he said it played good. so i think a 9550ge 256mb should do the job nicely

Sims 2 CAN be ran using a Gf FX 5200 as that is what my wife runs it at and she is on 1024x768 reso.

Sims 2 in my usage. is memory hungy. the more memory u have in the PC the better it runs. I have a 9600 se (which is actually worse then your's) in my sister's computer and it runs the game at 1024x768 at medium graphics with no lag at all. Also the bigger the house / the more people u have, the more memory / CPU power the game uses. BTW u should look at flashing your Card 2 a 9600 condering it is actually a underclocked 9600. u should get heaps more perfomance.
