Round 6 Fan Testing (Working Thread) - Page 32

I've never had a system with water cooling before, so I've not had to care much about fans and noise. It's always been noisy!

I'm hoping for decent cooling with low noise, or as low as possible. Wish I had a way to tell how loud my existing system is without buying a decibel meter.

FYI, these are next on the testing short list, thanks to Old Chap for two more Deltas that arrived today and RatDog for the bottom three including some more PWM options...

I think some of these deltas should dial down better than the previously tested VHE that ruled the high speed area..

Whee! What fun! I'm glad someone linked to this.

Martin, thank you for un-retiring.

Has anyone seen the AFB1212SHE-4F1A? It's the AFB 38mm Delta, but PWM controlled. It has specialty plugs, though, and it needs re-wiring. Plus: all-black wires, so rewiring will be a bit tricky. Lucky there is a good pdf for it.

It would be interesting for someone to do a sound spectrum analysis on GT's where they are most annoying. Perhaps you are hearing something that someone with old and rockmusic-blasted ears can no longer hear.

It is interesting to see the similarities between the results on a rad and the results on a heatsink. Especially your data is so granular, it's really a help.

I'm looking forward to your 140mm fan testing.

I'm still learning a lot about the Delta. OldChap was looking to get me a couple more. I don't think I've seen that particular one, but he and I were also looking at this one:

That looks like a heck of a deal though...have you ordered there before?

I've bought a set of fan clips and a few female 4-pin fan plug housings from them. Nothing like a fan. Most of my own experience with Delta fans has come from . . . Dell computers that I have owned. I kept computers for years, and those fans seemed to hold up well.

I've checked out a few fans, including the ones Martin recommended, but they're 120mm. Will I lose that much by buying an adapter and mounting 120mm in holes for 140mm? No 140mm fans that are fairly quiet but can push through a BlackIce GTX 420?

Adapters are fine, not cheap, but seem to work just fine on 140mm rads with 120mm fans. The Finisher is planning to send me a San Ace 140, that might be a good really high speed option for the GTX. That or you can take any of your favorite 120x38mm fans and mount them either to adapters, or build your own shroud to convert.
