nepikez: fill in your basic specs (mobo/ram/cpu/video). Maybe there is some issue we're overlooking and that might help us.

my card is the ati 9600xt aiw
the othe card i was tryin is... i think its a 7200


the new mobo is a dfi lanboy nforce3 (ya, it was the only one they had for 754 chipset....)

Well aslong as the 7200 is atleast a 4x card you are ok as i know that the 9600xt is an 8x card and will also be ok.

Only other thing left I can think of before thrashing that PSU, is to ask you if you connected all cables properly. The motherboard has two connections from the PSU: the normal, large, 20-pin connector on the edge and a small square 4x4 connector next to the CPU socket. Is that last one properly and securly inserted? I know this is a long-shot based on the fact that you do have a boot with bare minimum, but still..

Otherwise, borrow another PSU for a test ...

I really think you have a faulty PSU there matey. Try and borrow a friends PSU or something.
