I'm sure the BIOS version that is loaded on the board will suffice while you get started. I would take it slow with your o.c while you familarize your self with the BIOS settings and the individual performance characteristics of your particular 950. Go for something mild to start... 3.6 then push on to 3.8 and 4.0. Depending on your chip you may or may not be able to or rather wish/want to run 4.2 because of higher voltages/temps but if you are lucky and get a good clocking 950... your board is certainly capable. I have an X58A-UD3R v.1.0 running now with a W3540 and they are nice running boards.

is this a typo?the qpi pll and ioh at 1.84 and 1.82?
did you mean 1.14v qpi pll and 1.22v ioh?

Thanks for swift responses, @roger I did read that guide thank you,@radaja thanks for catching that mistake, @freak can you redo the chart with the correct info, I'm having a hard time do I use the voltage radaja posted our your "1.18, 1.18, 1.2" and what are the values.

I still think it would be wiser for you start with a milder overclock before jumping right out of the gate into a 4.2 GHz o.c. "freakb18c1" template might very well work with your individual cpu but they are all different with regards to how they scale.

thanks for the tip roger, I will try a mild OC of 3.86 or so, then see how that goes, what are consequences( longevity wise ) to OCing the cpu to 4.2, or even 4.0, I would really like 4.2 just for epeen really. I might just stick with a lower clock. Would you possibly have a good template to OC as far as possible with the lowest Voltage?
