ASUS P5WD2 Premium-Odd Issue

Thread Starter
Something I have never seen before. A LITE-ON DVD/CD Rewritable Drive SHW-160P6S will not function with this MoBo. A BenQ Drive works fine. The LITE-ON will work with other ASUS Boards. BIOS is latest 0606. Event Viewer is clean until attempt to use the Drive, then "CDROM ERROR" . Device Manager shows no Problems. PS is 430W. No other known Issues with the machine, everything else works fine. CPU is D 830, 35 Degrees C Idle, 1 GiG 667D2 Memory. ODD!

Check your BIOS settings. The P5WD2 series has a overall poor user interface in terms of optical drives.

The amount of AS5 on the CPU should be about .003" thick...
