Need help overclock p5wd2-e

Thread Starter
Just got p5wd2-e. my setup is the following
evga 6800gs
intel 920
p5wd2-e
620 watt enermax liberty power supply
gskill 2GB 5400
CDrom
sata2 wd 250GB hard drive
Lastest 401 bios

Got everything install and everything is working fine at stock speed.

Then I try to overclock it and it just don't post at 205MHz FSB!!
It's work at 204Mhz. I locked the pcie bus to 100Mhz.
I also try to lock the PCI bus to 33.33MHz and then it won't boot.

I was able to overclock with p5n32sli with the same exact components to 230FSB and p5n32sli is not a great overclock board.

I know people have great success with p5wd2-e thus i got one. Please give me some suggestions.

Because if i am thinking about RMA this POS mobo.

I have no personal experience with this board, but let's try. What is your RAM frequency set at when you run stock? Maybe try to set it at a lower frequency and then try to overclock the FSB? At least you know if the RAM is the culprit or not.

already try that. Does not help. I try to set the timing to 55515 and set me memory to lower speed. But did not help. I think this board is defective. It's over at 204, but will not post at 205.

Where are all the P5wd2-e experts?

I have a P5WD2-Premium which is the same thing but different chipset, and I can overclock pass 300fsb.

Anyhow:
Set RAM to 4-4-4-12 (4) @ 2.1v.
RATIO? Whichever you like but I prefer a 3:5 mostly, although a 1:1 you should start with.

Set PCI-Ex16 to 105.
Set PCI to 33.33mhz.

Disable some of the features that would make the system fast at stock speeds and "others". For example hyper path3, C1E. And whatever other's it may have that the 955X doesn't.

Have you tried to eliminate other issues?

- barebone setup, 1 single RAM stick.
- Did this CPU and RAM work good in another MoBo?
- Sure your PSU is up to it? (Don't think a mere 5MHz OC would cause that much of a power use increase, but hey... let's check all)
- Did you lock PCI?

If all other parts worked in another MoBo (not sure if you have a new rig or just replaced MoBo), then the MoBo might be faulty.

Also, could you fill in your system info?

i did the barebone thing. I unplug the cdrom, the hard drive, use one stick of ram, disable all the onboard features. And still can't pass 204Mhz. i believe the problem is i can't lock the pci bus. I try chaning bios from auto to cpu to 33.33mhz, but some this wrong about the mobo. It just does not want to me set the pci to 33.33mhz. I think is the mobo.

Yes all the other component in my rig works fine on a p5n32sli. I ONLY thing i change was the mobo.

Should i try to RMA this mobo and get another p5wd2-e? I love to overclock. It's fun

I didn't see this mentioned yet, did you up the core voltage. Don't leave it on auto, manually move it up and try and boot then. Also try upping the volts on the ram.

I couldn't boot at 1.30 but booted fine at 1.32.

the cpu voltage is at 1.4v on auto. The memory is at 1.9v. My guess is the mobo is bad.
