np. It would have been ideal for you since your tec chiller already had the Thermaltake plugs - but if you are planning on going higher, all is good mate

It is mainly about the amount of amps being drawn from the PSU by your TECs and if the PSU you use can support that draw.

There are not many PC PSUs around now that have ~30A rails - most have multiple <20A amp rails to make up the claimed watt rating.

Just speaking hypothetically:

You said you are going to use more then 650w for your TEC chiller, so just say you want to use 700w - only 50w more. For a chiller that will consume 700w, it would only make sense if it was being used in a high performance rig - which in itself would need around 500w on its own.

That means you'd need a PC PSU capable of providing at least 1200w continuous - and 700w of that would need to be on its own 12v rails and the amount of 12v rails for the 700w would be determined by how you wired your TECs.

Now PC PSU's capable of 1200w are enthusiest PSU's, and as such they are priced at a premium - above $400.

Now consider a Meanwell 24v/30A 750w SP-750-24 switchmode PSU costs around $230 - that's around half the cost

But it will require mounting and very careful wiring and safety measures to be implemented, as it has exposed 120/240v mains power which can easily electrocute and kill you or anyone else who happens to brush up against them while working in your PC case.

Now going back to the Thermaltake GPU PSU I mentioned - it has 2 12v/30A rails (technically that makes 720w) - it costs $130rrp (can be found cheaper on the net) - and it is specifically made to be installed easily and safely in a PC case and poses no danger to the installer or anyone else working in the case once installed.

Food for thought
