Front panel help

Thread Starter
Hi all,

i am in a dilemma with my pc and hte front panel. This is my first time in making a pc, and i am stuck at probs one of the easiest parts:/

Can you just confirm which switches go where, and whether they go on the closest or nearest pins as if looking down on the front panel
I have four leads:

Speaker
Power SW
Reset switch
Hdd led

Thanks
Mark

they'll connect directly to your mobo. take a look in your manual, but there should be some pins probably near the bottom right of your board that they'll connect to.

Thanks for fast reply

I know where they pins are located, but it has got 5 thigns on as to where hte pinds shoulsd go but i only have 4:/.

I rigged it up yesterday, but i realised i had the wrong ram so no ram was slotted in properly, could this be a cause to why it isnt starting up. The led comes on the psu when i turn power on but when i press switch on front panel nohting works. Is this because of connections?

Thanks
Mark

well the connectors are pretty standard. It is possible to reverse the polarity on them... if that happens just plug them in upside down from what you did plug them in. I've only seen this be a problem w/ the power and hdd LED's on the front of the case though. the switches should work either way.

so the mobo has 5 pins and the deals from your case only have 4? look closely, there will be extra pins on your mobo that you won't use. there should be a decent diagram in your mobo manual, and it should be silkscreened on the mobo itself, although it's sometimes hard to read on the mobo

If you've got the wrong ram, not made for your mobo, then your rig will not boot up.
