Calling all P5WD2-E Premium owners

Thread Starter
I Installed a P5WD2-E premium the other night, and also installed my TTBT. The first time I didn't redo the As5 because I had way too much on anyway. I actually removed some. Well It ran hot. I used to get 47-48°c with 4.1GHZ (vcore 1.375) full load on old GB8I945p-G mobo. Now, temps were out of control. At 3.2(stock) i'm 55+°c just running FAH. OC'd to 4.0ghz, i'm over 60°c running FAH. Last night I removed TTBT, cleaned it and cpu, reapplied as5(correct amount), and reinstalled. Temps are crazy hot. I also checked multiple sources. I used Speedfan, asus probe II, everest HE, and bios. All with same results. ***!

Try reinstalling the HS again. It may not have good enough contact.

I have installed it twice now, I completely cleaned HS and cpu, reapplied AS5(BB sized drop) squished it around for even layer. I even lowered the vcore down as low as possible. Right now, i'm 1.32.

Remember that AS5 takes 200 hours to fully cure and until then your temps wont be quite as good but they shouldnt be that bad.

When I installed the TTBT on Old Mobo, I saw an instant 10-12°c drop. I agree, there is a problem here. Just have no clue as to the remedy. ie...help!

You need to press the CPU "HARD" and feel a "click" into place. Often when installing a new LGA775 CPU one of the first mistakes is worrying about how hard to press down on the CPU and thus do not make firm contact and temperature issues are the result.

Ropey, If that works I owe you a beer. I just laid the cpu in the slot, I didn't press it in at all. It feels tight though because the lid had good pressure on it when I was closing it.

I think Ropey may be onto something. Those darn 775 sockets need quite a lot of force to get to click shut.

on this mobo i have stuggled installing heatsinks and waterblocks and every time it doesnt make good enough contact is because the heatsink it barely hitting a capasitor on the left side of the cpu slot. just slightley push them to the left and it shold clear them for sure. to see if you are actualy hitting one take off the heatsink and look very close at them and see if some of the sticker at the top of a cap. is getting scraped at all !

also use very little As5 and follow the correct steps in the instructions.

best of luck, let us know how it does
