remove old drivers first in WinXP, then restart comp and run Driver Cleaner to make sure all driver files are removed, restart again and install new

Also, make sure in device manager that there isn't an (!) by your video card.
If so, you can manually update the drivers by selecting the directory where the new drivers are located (usually C:\\NVIDIA\\Win2KXP\\84.43).

i love passing the following info on :

So, first you remove your previous/old drivers by going to control panel and removing it through add/remove programs, and then after its done you restart your computer.

Then you download http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745
and run it 5-8 times, then restart again.

Next, download your new drivers to your desktop, and then install. After your done with that, restart again, and you should have no problems with your drivers

and make sure in device manager theres not an ! next to your video card just like ckp64 said
