The extra memory actually makes that card slower than the 256 mb edition by adding more latency in the memory and doesn't help because it has a 128 bit memory interface. That card is in no way worth $220 for the performance it offers.

512mb or video RAM won't perform that great on a 128bit bus... to have that much RAM and be effective you need at least 256bit

Best buy does not offer that same card. Its a sapphire, or Diamond, or any other powered by ATi card maker. The only reason that card is so expensive on Newegg is because its a direct from ATi card, for some reason ATi likes to charge alot more for the same card. And best buy will not have a made by ATi card, as far as I know at least.

This looks like a much better deal 512, 256bit, no Shader model 3.0 support tho, but thats ignorable.

The Only way that the N-Vidia's win is with the quake 3 engine (which is typical, condering it is a N-vidia optimised game). Other wise ATI wins. Myself even the X1600 is a nice little card. and it matches the 7600GT. also i have some mates with the 7600GT and some with the X1600. The X1600 OC heaps. and the 7600GT barely OC at all. So with a bit of OCing the X1600 ends up being the better card in my book

X850XT

faster and cheaper than both the 7600GT and X1600PRO.

Ah yes and no. NO SM3. also i don't know where u r getting your prices from. the X1600 pro or XT r way cheaper then a X850 of anytype. it is r even cheaper then any of the X800.
