I'm hoping I can turn up some prettyness without deadly lag.
Well Im thinking you could Reach around medium at either 800*600 or 1024*768. The things that let you down are your Cpu and g-card really for this game.
Yeah Christian you will be looking at medium at 1024x768 with some below medium probably. Or you could go with 800x600 at medium and high.

In agreement with Enterprise. Oblivion is about as CPU hungry as they come. 1.5-2 gb of ram doesn't hurt either as up to 2 gb will still help performance.

I think it runs so smooth on mine because of my CPU and all the tweaks to my card. The X700 Pro isnt as good as my 9800Pro, but overclocked it destroys my 9800Pro. Thanks for all the help guys. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

Well its good that you seem to be able to Run that game happy enough for you ..Rock on.

Oblivion is not CPU intensive, it doesn't need alot of memory either. 1gig is more then enough to have great loading times, and no memory swapping.

It uses the graphics card memory for textures too, so that matters more then having over 1gig of system memory.

The game pretty much relies entirely on your graphics card.

My friend plays with a 9800 Pro, it runs decently but with the majority of effects turned off at 1024x768, no grass no distant lands no shadows etc. The game is still fun as hell, and he enjoys it just as much as I do (just doesn't get all the nice visuals is all).

An X1600 Pro is better then a 9800 Pro, and an X1600 XT is even better then that.

Also, with an X850 XT I can run at 1280x1024 high settings bloom + fake HDR (SM2.0 HDR, looks almost as good with only a small performance hit), grass tweak with full grass distance enabled, only things disabled are some of the shadow options (self shadows, canopy, grass, soft shadows) but the game looks just as good IMO.

So if your having problems with FPS on a 7900 GT, should look into disabling some of the uneeded shadow options (grass shadows is useless and takes alot of FPS, self shadows looks bad and takes alot of FPS).

Should run just about the same as me on an X800 XT, so your definetly in the clear.

Thanks for the replies guys!
I can't wait to get the game! I'll let you know how it runs.

Right now, I'm getting ready to go on holiday. See you in 3 weeks!

Bye bye! ^_^

I just got this game. It runs heaps good on my 9600 256mb. Probally because it is OCed like nothing else. 600Mhz GPU and 650Mhz Memory. Also the fact that i have 1.5GB of ram. and a AMD2400+ running at 2.6Ghz. I can play it at about 1024x768 all options maxed out on the setting i can change. And it looks heaps good. Mind u there is something weird about my PC. Condering it get a 3000+ score in 3dmark 05.

Yes, it IS cpu intensive. It doesn't so much need alot but you would struggle with 512, 1gb would be ok, but for high, your gonna want 2Gb.

Gfx memory isnt more important than RAM! if i had 128mb of RAM and a 7900GTX, you cant say it would run good... it wouldnt. 2Gb of RAM with my 6200 however, would be good.

This game puts heavy stress on all components, not 'mainly' on one or the other.

RMA'ed my busted 7900GTX, gonna replace it with a 7900GT and 2Gb of RAM, then it'll rock

Oh btw, i own you all:

Running it on all lowest settings 1024x768 but with 100% view distance and distant lands. You CANNOT play with distant lands off. all that foggyness is just ****e. 15-30fps outside
