Thread Starter
Okay, im wondering the best settings for my setup; as far as overclocking and stabability, my hardware is as follows,
ASUS A8NSLI
3700 San Diego
EvgA 6800 GS
Antec 450 watt Psu
1 stick of Crucial BallistiX PC 3200, i know i need to get more

I am using all stock cooling, and have good case ventilation, i want to know what the best bios to use is and the best bios settings for my hardware in as much detail as possible, sorry for being such a n00b.

HTT = 3x
CPU Clock = 260-270
CPU Mult = x11
or
CPU CLock 285
CPU Mult x10
RAM Divider= 333MHz
RAM timings 2-3-3-5 1T (if good RAM), 3-4-4-8 2T

RAM really determined how your PC will handle the higher clocks as well as adequate cooling

What HSF are you using and what kind of airflow are you doing (CFM Intake/Exhaust speeds?)

Also fill out your whole system spec so we can better help

I have two TT 37CFM fans on the back of my case, along with one in the front.
I also have one silverstone 110 CFM fan on the side of my case, i am using the stock HSF on my cpu, and also Have the newest bios from ASUS i would like to know what one is the best for use with a 3700 SD.

I'd try looking over some of the guides first if you have not done so yet. Its important to know what everything does and and how it effects your overclock. The extra time and effort will pay off in the end.
Your PSU is a little low since its only a 450w, but should not be too big of a deal if you do not many extra devices like hard drives and cd drives.
GatorLCA posted some good starting points.
CPU multiple: 11x
HTT(FSB): 250
HT: set to 4x up to HTT of 250, then after that change to 3x
I don't know much about your memory, but I think you'll need to use a divider sooner or later, depends on how high you want to overclock.
Voltage: depends on your CPU, start at 1.4v the up it by 0.25 as needed to get overclock stable. Do you know your CPU's stepping, if it KACAE then you'll most likely need lower voltage to get it stable compared to others. Don't just up voltage to max, the low it is the better since volts=heat, and your onlt using stock air. So heat will play a part as your overclock goes higher.
You should be able to get to atleast 2.8ghz with that cpu.

I dont remember what my CPU is steping, is there another way i can find out without taking the hsf off it?

Okay,
I have my cpu running stable at 2750 mhz, here is a screenshot from cpuz http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=88809
my question now is how can i raise my ram frequency?, when i set my dram frequency to manual and set things how i want them the bios sets the cpu frequency to standard? How can i manually input my ram timings and frequencys
without losing my settings for ocing the cpu?

your memories frequency should rise as you increase the FSB(HTT). I'm not familar with your BIOS, sorry. If your setting are set to manual then I don't know why it should be setting your cpu back to 2.2ghz. Hopefully someone else with your mobo will give you some better input. For now though I'd just try a few different things, changing one thing at a time. My guess is that something was not saved or is getting set back to auto or defualt.
