Evaluate my dream

First off I would like to say thanks to Overclock.net for having such a great community of awesome computer experts.
So yeah I have a Dell Dimension 4800, which I totally loathe. Can’t do anything but homework and other boring activities. Tried playing Guildwars and counterstrike once and it took forever to load and the gaming experience was bad.
So now I want to build a computer so I can finally get rid of this monstrosity called “Dell†So I having been researching for a few months and I think I have all the parts I need.

The build has to be under $650US or else my parents will not supply me with the funds. The $650 is without monitor, keyboard and mouse.

+Rep to anyone that helps me of course.

Thank you

All looks pretty good to me. I would get 1 stick of 1gb ram instead of 2x512mb. Its about the same price maybe $10 more. It leaves you room to upgrade. I would also look fora better, used gpu on ebay.

It looks like a decent build. I only looked at your MOBO, CPU, PSU, RAM, and video card. Everything else is your preference.

Hm, i would suggest maybe a better video card, and i would seriously suggest saving up $350 more, just so you can get a huge increase in performance and last you a lot longer, and able to go PCI-e instead of AGP

But if you cant save more money, then i would go will at least a 6600GT

I suggest you get a HD from a diffrent source, that HD is really expensive.. =/

If you can take the rebate, its instant if you do it online to a paypal account. =)

This will clear some money for a vid card, the 7300GS totally sucks.

then get a refurb..

Case is obviously based on aesthetic preferences--and I prefer a plain exterior that I can go off on in Modland--there's nothing to mod on that case--so I don't much care fer it--but that's just me.

Hard Drive is standard fair (you dream about 7200RPM SATA? Dream Raptor my friend --150gig rocks) and is a good choice for an 80 gig SATA 300

Interesting choice for a mobo--are you planning to use AGP at some point? Not too familiar with those chipsets--nothing against them--just don't know much about them. At least they support RAID (I'd add another HDD to that dream of yours--RAID 0 is pretty cool)

Why a half-height Vcard? If it was going into a SFF case that would make sense...curious choice....

Purdy PSU--I usually do those mods myself also so I would probably not be dreaming about green UV sheathing from the factory...(I do dream about PC Power & Cooling PSUs though)

That's my favorite Mfr of RAM but I dream in XMS...solid RAM (not very overclockable) takes voltage well--but since it hardly overclocks 15% that won't even be an issue...

Good price for an entry-level processor--I dream in dualcore...OC the bejabbers out of it for us won't you?

I have my sights set on one of those NECs to replace a damaged Asus QuieTrack. Good middle-of-the-road burner--NEC is solid. I dream Plextor slot...

But hey your dream is a solid build and apparently your dreams have budgets--looks more like a future reality than a dream to me--go for it!

Like the CPU, and i think the RAM will suite you, if you dont OC alot.
I would most defintley get a diffenet GPU, and i would try and get a nice cheap MOBO that supports PCI-Express so you can upgrade latter. (AGP is goin out) I would get a Nviada 7600 if you fork over a little more cash, and i would get a bigger HD. At least 120gb or up, they shouldnt be that much more expensive then the 80gb.
