a8n-sli chipset = Whoot, Fixed my chipset. Ghetto MOD :D

Thread Starter
Well..I heard a lot of riff raff about after market coolers and what not. I thought to myself what the hells the point? Take out the mobo, such a big hassle, So I found some popsicle sticks and card board from previous school assignments(not exactly what you associate with computers, lol), and a hot glue gun, and salvaged a fan from my stock athlon 64 cooler. I decided to go at it. First of all i made a frame out of popsicle sticks for the fan, hooked up the fan to it, then made a stand for the frame. It worked great but looked butt ugly, so I wrapped it in some cardboard. Hehe, it still looks kinda ugly, I know. I hope to paint it black or metallic or something when I get time. But whatever, it's inside my case so I don't care. I found it to be a nice alternative to modding my motherboard to fit a fan on there, and even better than having to remove it to install some aftermarket stuff. Heres some pics...

BTW, My idle for my chipset has become my load, and it idles around 5 degrees cooler. Full load at 33 compared to 42 previously. And because of this the rpm of the fan by itself is already almost half of what it was before

Yes that truely is ghetto style, but hey, aslong as it works good, who cares, and like you said it is inside your case.
