and just today, Shift 2 Unleashed is confirmed for 2011 release
although the first has received a lot of heat from many hardcore simulation fans, I found it really good... it's a great mix of simulation and arcade physics, and the cockpit view they "revolutionized" was simply breathtakingly amazing! I haven't seen any other racing game with better cockpits... even GT5 included... *but that's to be seen when I receive the game, already pre-ordered*
Hot Pursuit is a completely different beast however... and it's pure action oriented
I really can't wait to get my hands on the game... the demo was great fun, and that was only 2 events
I don't understand people who refuse to play simply becuase there's no customization... to be honest, the last few installments were actually more ruined because of introduction of customization... it's not what defines a game... Need For Speed has never had customizable body or paint *talking about the classic NFS, not some tuner crap like Underground, U2, Most Wanted, etc* Shift, I understand because it's in the professional racing scene, and there's custom liveries and body kits and performance upgrades differentiating the teams... but customizations + exotics JUST DO NOT MIX...
to the contrary, it just RUINS the already gorgeous cars...
so I'm very happy with the decision Criterion made *although I prefer if they had a custom pain palette like in High Stakes*
the only 2 things I don't like is the way to "take down" racers and the physics... but you can get used to the second... and the first, I can look over, because there's SO MUCH MORE going for the game that makes it great!
but my final opinion may change once I play the full game
