Minecraft; 1 account; LAN?

My younger broski doesn't have minecraft yet and used to really enjoy playing on a server where, for some reason, we were able to sign in together, on seperate computers, under a single account. After informing the admin, well, they took it as hacking. So now it is just us one at a time on the server until he is able to grab himself a copy.

However, what about LAN? If it was possible for us to play together online on 1 specific server would it still be possilbe to get a LAN server to yield the same results? So far it hasn't been too good of a show. We disabled 2 key settings (to what I thought would allow us to game on the same server): verify-names and online-mode. It wouldn't let us join.

Any ideas? If OCN mods also take this as hacking, please infracture and delete.

I doubt it. I tried the same thing, tried setting up a LAN server so me and my bro could play. No go. There has to be two active accounts. Meaning yours and his.

I wonder why we were able to connect and play in that same server under the same account?

If you have internet while you create the server you will use your online accoutn name while he who doesn't have any account will have the name Player.

So both can play at the same time.

There are editors that can change your offline name so you can be more offline players though but I think that it's something you should find yourself since it's not TOS friendly to use.

How do you set that up? The server is dedicated.

I haven't tried it with Minecraft, but LAN on Gmod kicked my other computer with a "steam validation rejected".

Actually he isn't breaking the TOS unless he plays with a third person since the first account is the regular "Player" account which is the automatic offline account.
