E6400 does SuperPi in 16 seconds

HKEPC has another scoop with a Conroe E6400 overclocked to nearly 3.11GHz from 2.16GHz, nearly 50% overclock. Man, that baby did Super Pi 1M in 16s.

How it translates in real life is something that has to be seen but still, 16s in Super Pi is something unheard of and bodes very well for Intel and sends very bad vibes towards AMD. I sincerely hope that the K8L and K10 can provide some strong competition to Conroe. Not since the transition from 286 to 386 have I seen such a huge jump in performance between two Intel CPU families.

Meanwhile at HWbot.org via Madshrimps, you can catch sight of a Core Duo T2600 to 3.4GHz, from 2.16GHz - that's a jump. Compared to the above, it takes slightly longer - 17.765s - to complete the 1M calculation. That is even faster than the world record currently held by Tom Holck with a P4 670 clocked at 7.2GHz. Yonah's core is proving to be more than a match for the P4. God knows what would have happened if Intel had decided at that time to continue with the P3 family rather than go P4's way

That just brings a smile to my face. I love it when new hardware comes out that is actually a leap beyond the current. Makes for good competition and rockbottom prices on older stuff.

W00t! Lol, not only does Intel have the upcoming Conroe that does 16s 1M but they also have current gen Yonah that does under 18s 1M! For comparison my Pentium D 930 at 4.2GHz can barely muster 31s! lmao that Conroe is twice as fast at calculating Pi. Now I know that these CPUs are heavily overclocked but thats how they'll exist in our machines anyways, well in mine anyways. Chalk me up for the E6700 with twice the L2 cache of that 6400

And we can tell thats a genuine screenshot because...? I have nothing against Conroe, but everything about benchmarks so far has not been confirmed. There is no checksum on that ancient version of Super Pi. There is no confirmation of "Pi calculation is done". And why the hell do people save important screenshots like that as a crappy JPEG, so it gets all that noise on it PNG PNG PNG PNG!!

Why can't someone show some genuine, reputable, confirmed evidence of Conroes performance?

Very good point.
I think the Conroe is a bit overhyped. I think people are going to be dissapointed with the Conroes actual performance when it comes out.
But I don't know.. Maybe it will be as good as it has been cracked up to be...

what will the price of it be???
is there a real definition of it?
and does any one know much on it other than some rumors they have heard intel hasn't even released any real detailed info on this series of next gen processors yet.

Im pretty sure the E6600 would be a steal because its 100$ less than the E6700, and possibly overclock the same, but well just have to see, considering the 4mb shared cache which is going to me awsome, hopefully it will be supior in Games as it is in Pi calculations, i mean mine gets 35s in 1M 4.01 i want that 16s!
