Asus 7600GS 256 SLi - Page 2

You really have that much of a problem with em??? Mines plays oblivion on Med-High with not problems at all.....

I'm curious though when you overclock using the coolbits edit.In SLI does it apply it to both of the cards??

I definitly think the passive cooling is killing you. I have two PNY's with stock fans on and it keeps them at idle 45 and load close to 60

Hi,

I agree about the passive cooling, I RMA'd the two 7600GS and put in the 7600GT SLi last night, the temps are normal 49 to 60c. The fans are not as loud as the reviews, infact they appear to slow down when not required. Also a big difference from the DDR2 To DDR3. Very pleased with the results and gaming, it is like seeing COD2 for the first time. Also I was able to OC with coolbit to 600/800

Yes, it does apply to both cards. Hence, it's best to overclock each card one at a time, particularly if one is doing volt mods. No need to volt mod one card to high speeds, if the other one can't keep up.

The 7600GS actually overclocks very well. It uses the same core as the 7600GT, but at a lower voltage. With more voltage the gpu can exceed 7600GT stock speeds, but overall performance is limited by the DDR2 memory.

Instructions for volt modding the 7600GS are located here, but do this at your own risk.
