Sorry If this has Been mentioned already but i couldnt find that it had. I though i would let you poeple know about this.

It turns out that the R600 won't be out as early as we all expected. ATI has the flexibility to postpone this chip as there won't be any DirectX 10 API to run the hardware. The original plan was to launch this unified Shader chip in the summer of 2006 but ATI has already informed its partners to be ready for an 80 nanometre die shrink of the R580. The R580+ chip is scheduled for late summer time.

Stupid Vista with its DX10 makin' me buy new stuff(I know that it offers lots of new stuff but I have to grumble since I just almost caught up). Actually the die shrink news is cool and it means that current cards will get cheaper.

As long as the 9700 supports DX9 you should be alright but you wont be able to do much with it

Also the delay means nvidia won't be releasing their 8 series cards (if they are the ones with DX10) until launch

That is Correct Nvidia May also be delayed, Aslong as you have a DX9 API gpu then you will be fine to atleast Vista.

I guess that means I'm safe with my X700, but the aero glass thing. We'll probably run Vista to look like XP like we run XP to look like Win98. If you guys do that, or am I the only one?

@ati_overclocked: Other people adds rep to you, that's the only way you can increase it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
