Yeah my first "enthusiast" build had a single core athlon @ ~2ghz. I don't remember which one it was exactly. I got it with a bright pink biostar mother board and 2 x 512mb sticks of ddr and some agp video card. Man it flew back in the day...

mine was amd athlon 64 x2 4800+ then it become 5600+ and now 1055t

A Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz. OC'd it to 3.15GHz and played Crysis ftw.



Of course, the earliest enthusiast CPU that I own is an AMD Barton 2600+ 1917MHz.

I built my first in 2006. I started out with an Athlon64 3700+ San Diego single-core (S939). That chip's still alive, actually; my best friend runs it today.

First CPU?

Slot A Semperon processor at 650mhz... came in a Gateway Select 650 tower that boasted an impressive 9Mb of ram and a 10.2 GB HDD, still running today with a few upgrades (ram and HDD) and has XP on it!

first chip ever was an AMD Athlon 6400+

then my second was an e6320.. back when i didn't know i could overclock; then i got into overclocking and got 2.8-3.0GHz out of it

Best chip i've ever overclocked was a Q9550 @ 4.4GHz.

I've owned some chips like the Q6600 too. i've also had a Core i7 920 at 4.2GHz.

But recently i gave up my i7 build for something less intensive as I only need less than an 8800GT and a pentium dual core for CS 1.6

I will upgrade my ram next, and maybe (if i can talk myself out of it) i'll pick up another Q9550
