Two Routers on Same Network

Thread Starter
Me and my neighbor are planning to LAN our houses together.

We both already have a LAN setup at our houses (a router, multiple computers, ect), and want to connect them together.

I'm not quite sure how to do this. We want to both use our own internet (so we dont steal eachothers bandwidth) while being on one LAN.

Is this as simple as turning off DHCP on the routers, and set static IPs so that the default gateway for his computers is his router, and my default gateway point to my router?

How do you plan to get traffic from your network to his? Wireless, Ethernet?

Easiest solution? A wireless bridge.

You will Not be stealing form Your Bandwidth anyway as it Will be Equally shared out by the Router to the 2 different Clients on th Network. Having 2 routers Will increase the Signal latency on your Network therefore Givng you a higher Ping Which is not the best.
Yes that may work but I doubt it. You always try to setup his router to one of your network places

What I meant was, my computers trying to go through his router for internet access, or vice-versa.

Here is a solution for you. Both of you get a switch and uplink them. If you want to go Ethernet that is the easiest way. See the screenshot.

From what i know You should Have your Lans Going into a Gigabit Swtich and you should be fine Unless im missing the point here.
what everyone else is saying, put the LAN's into the gigabit switch. kinda like daisy chaining. as long as your gateway is pointed towards your modem, and his gateway is pointed towards his modem, you two should have any problems w/ each other LANNing from another...
