Hey everyone, time for an update!

Good news, build generally went well. It took me a couple hours to troubleshoot some booting / power on issues and other hardware installation concerns (yay stripped screws), but now she's online and running steady while folding at least.

The rest of the parts *finally* just came in today so while it took me a couple weeks to really get this together, I wanted to take a little time and do it right since it was also my first self-build in a good 10 years... More pics and another video or two to follow hopefully soon!

@ d33r - Thanks for the info on that. In fact, that's exactly the same window I did in fact pick up. I wanted to show off the insides a little bit after all . I'll check out the video in depth later, though I do cover some of the same topics in the videos I'm processing now (ie. case door and so on).

#7 Taking her apart. 3 screws on each side, two for the tray, six for the top base, eight for the top ridge, twelve for the front bay fans, and for more for the controller! Eeek! Doesn't help when screws are pewter-like non-hardened pieces of crap and they strip.

#10 Figured for as how little I use power tools, it was time to break out a drill and had to go get a screw extractor set from Home Depot.


#11 I had to carefully hold pressure both against the case and drill to take out the couple nasty screws... Had to bore in a good deal too.

That's it for now! I'd show the wireless card I picked up but it's totally DOA and broken. I'd also show some cool 2-GPU shots but the second card was likewise dead and is now in RMA-land back to EVGA. Oh well at least everything else works great so far. One more photo dump and whatnot to come once I can mod a bit more or I get some of the cards back.

Also as of note, yes it's messy but not much I can do about it - airflow however and temps appear to be utterly exceptional. Also, that front-panel HD audio header... yeah due to putting an AXP on the 580 it is completely removed. Cleans up that part of the case a little and may even cool the southbridge a little.

Got probably one last video or so and one last batch of photos and the installation will be complete!
