Pentium/Core 2 Duo E2140 Overclocking

I wanted to ask a simple question about the E2140 on overclocking it. Is it a good CPU to overclock?

Yes, very good depending on your chip. I had my old one at around 3.4GHz if I recall correctly.

but it depends on how good your specific chip is, how well your motherboard can overclock, and also your ram to a certain extent.

They are one of the few chips who can do 100% overclocks (in the case of E2140 stock @ 1.6ghz; OC @ 3.2ghz, for example) and gain massive amounts of performance.

If you are trying to overclock on a stock intel board the settings are locked.

Yeah, I know. That's why I'm asking to see if my CPU is a good CPU to overclock. I'm looking for a new motherboard, but I don't know what to pick. :/

Like PanicProne said it's one of the few CPUs that has been known to overclock 100%. So yes, to say the least they are good overclockers. Though every chip is different so what your chip will overclock to will vary. I have a E2140 that overclocked to 3.2GHz on stock voltage.

The b-stock EVGA 750i SLI motherboard is only $29.99 shipped. I'd say that should do the trick. A lot of P45 motherboards overclock good too like Asus and Gigabyte, but those would probably cost more.
