CPU swap on an HP board? - Page 2

More RAM would help alot as well.

Try 'Everest'. Its good at telling you system info (although temps seem off)

is is a 133FSB Chipset, so a 266MHz FSB CPU will work, liek an Athlon XP up to a 2400...

but to be honest with you.. really would a faster cpu make that big of a difrence? 2001 DDR was just coming out i think, so theres a good chance that he still has SDRAM in it... theres nothing in the world that would make it faster than at least a big difrence

It is 168-pin SDRAM, there's 2x Rosewill 256Mb sticks in it.
As for system specs other than the mobo go, I pretty much know it all.
It has a Radeon 9600 vanilla 256Mb AGP in an AGP 2/4x slot, a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS, a Foxconn wireless-g Adapter, a 250Gb Maxtor MaxLineIII, and the RAM stated above.

The KT133a should support a 1400 which is the last of the nonIntel rated AMD's. I have an Asus MB with that setup and very few had BIOS updates to support up to an 1700+ which was no better than the 1400.
You options are so limited it's not worth upgrading it period

Well upgrading its Current Sdram Will along with the CPU will make a Difference.

"shakes head" you might be better off getting a better mobo first then think about the cpu. You can get sempies for it cheap and then have the DDR options open to you
