Ok, i could seriously care less about power consumption, i have a 500watt antec smartpower 2.0 PSU, so that's outta question, and same with cooling, cuz my X800XL idles at 35C on my comp now (and i havn't dusted it it for a while too, used to idle at 30C, too lazy to clean out though), and it loads at bout 50C, so i assume that's good enough cooling.

Hey guys do your homework the x1800GTO is a circumcised X1900 the core is a 590… And so far no one has yet over clocked it. I guess you would have to find a mod X1900 bios……………Bets of luck

I've been using nvidia since 3dfx went bankrupt, but i got a feel this gto can kick some serieus butt. And i found a spahire gto for only €213,= so that's only a little more expecive then a 7600gt.

I'm going to build 4 bugdet game pc's for around €900-1000 and i think the gto is going to be in it.

x1800gto, you can have AA on without losing much frames compared to 7600gt

if you have a low power supply get the 7600gt, otherwise get the x1800gto

For the same or similar money whatever card you buy will perform about the same, at the end of the day YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Unless of course you get ripped off with some bag of crap !

Im in a similar situation with a similar budget, I will be going for the 7600gt purely coz i like nvidia

O, yea and if i want it faster ill get a new sli board n get another card n sli it

Well, sory for 'reviving' my old, old topic, but now i'm actually gonna buy one of them. Right now the pricesa are for 7600GT: 144.99 (after mail in), and for X1800GTO: 185.99 that's a 41 dollar difference, but i'm willing to spend 41 bucks. SO i just need to know what is better for the price.

EDIT: BTW, is it easy to unlock the 16 pipes in a X1800GTO?

If you can afford to pay about $30 more, then I'd get an X1800GTO purely because the image quality is better and you can HDR and AA at the smae time. Also, you can unlock pipelines. I know someone who unlocked pipelines and then OC'd so he had an X1800XT for the price of an X1800GTO. So it depends on if you can afford that extra $30.

Nrgx.

EDIT: They both OC like crazy. Dunno which one is better.

Also, the master/slave concept doesn't exist if you want to crossfire. At least I don't think it does...don't quote me on that.

Well I would go for Nvidia because I own one Nvidia card and I know how good they are in performance, overclocking, temps, and UDA (Unified Driver Architecture that lets you SLI 2 different Nvidia cards because they use the same drivers in the operating system). The drivers are really friendly and provide easy, safe overclocking using the Nvidia Control Panel. But I know ATI is really good too, so it's up to you. But I have no idea how to unlock pipes to answer your question.
