You can always replace a Motherboard. The only problem you might run into is the case might not be big enough for the new one! Other than that it's knowing what type of processor you have. I'm not familiar with Intels at all but i'm sure some people here can tell ya. Also another note if you use onboard grahics, The newer mobo might not have it so you'll have to look into a grahics card..

PROBN4LYFE, can you recommend a good ASUS motherboard with a pci-e slot, 2 or more slots of ram, and good overclocking abilities?

Depends on your budget. I assume thats an LGA775 CPU? You'll also want to keep your ddr 1 ram I assume? If you have a proprietary HP motherboard and power supply, you will likely have to change both (hp 350w are crap anyhow).

Also, are you planning ATI or Nvidia?

Single card or dual (Crossfire or SLI)?

It makes a difference as the RD580 ATI based Asus boards are great and so are the intel versions that are SLI ready.

So how much are you planning for motherboard, video card and power supply? With a budget we can pick the right stuff for you.

A good power supply is aroung $100 us (sunbeam nuuo 550w or the enermax liberty 500w)

For video ATI or Nvidia? An nvidia 7900gt is a great card for under $300 us. That would leave you with $200 for a motherboard and hit the $600 mark easily.

The Asus P5N32-SLI is a great board for overclocking and if you decide to go SLI (it's got dual 16x lanes) you could pop in a second 7900GT down the road for a real performance boost. It's around $200 US as well.
