7900GT or X1800XT? - Page 2

The 7900GT is a 90nm part. :***:
It is the G71, which is 100% 90nm, along with every other GFX card out there.

I would say X1800XT, but because you have an SLI motherboard, you might as well get the 7900GT. You can always have the open door later. However, do not hesitate to buy an X1800XT is you cannot get your hands on a 7900GT.

BTW, estimations indicate that the X1900GT/O will come out no earlier than May, so it’s your choice.

I would go for the 7900GT. It is a much better deal. Although it has half the memory and a lower clock speed, it still outperforms the x1800xt by a decent amount. And it would be easier to upgrade to SLI 7900GT's later, without buying a new motherboard.

The X1800XT didn't even make it to the chart.
But, it would be above the 7600GT. It's between the 7800GTX and the 7900GT.

Although they used a EVGA CO superclocked, this one can OC. It would overclock enough to beat the snot out of an overclocked x1800xt. And yes, they couldn't find a 256MB version of the x1800xt, so they used a 512MB version. The 7900GT wins this round.

If you want HDR+AA go with the X1800XT.

If you want a single-slot card that uses less power and runs cool, go for the 7900GT.

And the 7900GT is a 90nm part.

The 7900GT is not less expensive.

The 7900GT doesnt outperform the X1800XT. The 1800XT has more memory bandwidth, much more vertex operations, and faster pixel fill rate.

That's all on paper. The real performance of the 7900GT....is much better.
