best way to ship a monitor? - Page 2

Also buy the box from Fedex, buy the bubble wrap and tape from Walmart and the peanuts...Can't really give a recommendation on that as I buy in bulk, but you may find them at Walmart for a reasonable price.

i had a 32" hdtv that the electrican next door to me and found out a board died and he wants me to sell it on ebay in my account and we split the money..
its gonna be the first p&r hdtv i'll be shipping out. i ship mostly use mail and ups but im hesitant dealint with it coz of the headache of its size, ebay buyers and shipping costs and delivery headaches...

u dont want to get a box too big thinking safety coz it'll sky rocket the price with ups.

its cheaper to get a rate online than instore with ups.

Impossible. I shipped an 800D out west form NH. Cost less than 60. With insurance.

OP, trying going to any local stores and ask for any boxes liek a walmart. They usually have to just throw them away anyways. Then if need be, use pillows. You can buy cheap pillows for like 2-3 bucks a pop at some dollar stores.

Put it in a garbage bag to protect it from moisture and...
Support the corners with some spare Styrofoam to center it properly in the box then...
Take a can of spray foam insulation and fill in the corners to provide instant custom corner support.
DO NOT use the spray foam if the unit is not protected by the bag or some other means like saran wrap or plastic or you'll never get the spray foam off the monitors plastic case and screen!!!

1. Fedex only.

Comment still holds true today. Never use UPS. Their claims department only exists to prevent you from actually successfully claiming a damaged or lost package. If you wish to make a claim with UPS you might as well go ahead and hire a lawyer before you ever call them. Even if they are completely obligated to uphold your claim they will not do it simply because they know you don't have the time or the money to fight them on it. The UPS claims department is nothing but a scam whose whole purpose is to net revenue for the company by screwing over small and individual shippers. Think about how much they can make on this for each customer they rape. Initial Insurance Coverage Fee+Shipping Cost of item to the buyer+Return Shipping Costs after a UPS dock employed has dropped kicked your package and rolled it around the dock for awhile. 100% Scam. Sooner or later someone will bring a class action on this.
