Abit AW8 & Pentium D 805 Compatibility?

Thread Starter
i see that everyone recommends ASUS (which has never failed me) ..... however my problem is that i already have an Abit AW8 motherboard.

i have read that the AW8 is finicky when it comes to PSU & memory, but i am planning on getting quality components, like a 600 PSU and 2 gb of PC2-6400 memory, from some kind of reputable company like OCZ. i will also use water cooling, probably something like the Corsair Nautilus 500.

i got excited when i read this article suggesting a moderate overclock for the d 805 at stock voltage....is there any reason to believe that the AW8 will not run the d 805 at 190 Mhz FSB X multiplier 20 = 3.8 GhZ ?

Thanks!

Thinking off the top of my head... that seems like a significant overclock. you would seriously have to get some nice RAM and efficient cooling to keep that overclock stable. I don't see why that board shouldn't be able to do it, but you'd always be better off with a quality Asus board.
