FWIW, you can also use Barbicide or Hydrocide, they use the same biocide and are cheaply available at most beauty supply stores like Sally Beauty supply. Barbicide is the blue liquid that hairstylists commonly put their scissors and combs in to disinfect =)

Hydrocide costs like $5 for 16oz at Sally Beauty supply.

The only downside to using a Quaternary ammonium biocide such as these is that they are cationic surfactants with high foaming tendency. Its not a major issue if you only use a few drops but it will make it harder to get all the air bubbles out of your system.

On the plus side, quats inhibit corrosion and oxidation of metals. (That is one reason they were used in Barbicide, as it originated back in the day when most barbers shears were made of high carbon steel rather than stainless steel, so having them soak in Barbicide would prevent them from rusting)
