Driver has stopped responding and has recovered

Thread Starter
Instead of making a grammatical mess of a post, I'll post what happened with bullet points:

- Went to play a youtube video under Chrome, as soon as the youtube page loaded my screen went black while audio played fine (with power still being given to the monitor).
- When an image came back on the screen, in the lower right corner an error appeared (error being the topic title).
- My screen cycled between the black screen and the frozen screen with the error pop up in the lower right corner.
- Eventually my system restarted itself, thinking nothing of it I choose to boot-up normally and not into safe mode
- Upon booting up into windows the same error repeats itself.

Here's what I've done to try and fix this:

- Uninstalled drivers (258.96) and used driver sweeper afterwards, than installed 260.99, same result upon bootup.

Here's an error report I got upon booting into safemode:

The only time I ever saw this was on a Vista laptop and it was a driver issue with the Intel GMA Graphics series. If you removed the drivers with Driver Sweeper, rebooted, and then installed the new drivers, then you've done everything I would've done.

The only other thing I would try is remove drivers w/ Driver Sweeper, run CCleaner (the registry cleaning AND the temp file cleaning just to make sure ALL Nvidia references are gone), restart, and reinstall drivers. I cancel out of the Windows Add New Hardware wizard, and manually install the drivers. Hope this helps you, but from the sounds of it, I doubt it will.

EDIT: I thought I was the only one with a folder named **censored for this post**!

Have you tried playing a game? The card is probably just faulty, it happens.

two suggestions:

1) try rolling back the graphics driver to the previous release.

2) Go under your control panel and make sure you don't have a hardware conflict. No IRQ issues.(Anecdote: I used to get some weird gremlins on my machine, beat my head bloody trying to figure it out and the issue was the Sandisk USB SD card reader. Took it out and suddenly, everything was fine. Computers are finicky damn things.)

Games have always played fine, only web based movies give me this weird error from blue moon to blue moon. After shutting down the machine and starting it up again I've been able to go about my business fine. Windows starts up no problem. For curiosity sake I put the youtube video I originally attempted to load on repeat to see if I could re-create the error, nothing.

One weird that I've noticed is that when Windows boots up to the repeating error, there's a window from Flash saying to go to adobe's site to upgrade etc. When windows starts up fine that update window never comes up.

I haven't seen an IRQ issue in years, and I've never seen an IRQ (or any hardware/resource conflict) cause a driver crash like this, BUT it's it's still a good idea if the driver re-install doesn't fix the problem. Because it's been so long since I've seen it, it's something I almost never think of until I beat my head on the wall a time or two. Maybe if I wrote "Check IRQ" on the wall, my forehead would feel better, and I wouldn't have a dent in the wall??

And yes, you're very right. Computers are finicky damn things! lol

Something to look at .... may not be it but I have had rigs that have had issues in the past with Adobe Flash Player.

Is Adobe Flash Player being used by the web movie sites?

Check on that - then check on your version and see if there is an upgrade. Alternatively try uninstalling Adobe Flash Player entirely and see what happens.
