Big update...HUGE!! OK it might not seem like it to you guys, but just put 4 days into the build.
First up were the headlight bracket, not much to talk about but they are mounted. I hate tiny parts.
Next fuel tanks:
I originally went with an old school look on the ends but since I destroyed one on the final cut last year I grew bored of them and made two new ones a little longer. Yes they are hollow inside with solid end caps. I bored a true relief in the tubes and then made caps .003 larger, then heated the tubes to 500 deg. and put caps in the freezer. The one quick hit with the press, they were there to stay. Once cooled put them back in the lathe to true them up and radius the ends.
Next Tank mounts:
Well mounts look great on the PC screen so into the mill they went! All cut to size sanded ready to mount...Dang no way to mount them. That is the reason for the saddle going across frame.
The rest worked out great....hmmm thin aluminum,"hey whats this" copper sheet, perfect. I really almost passed on this step but really glad I stuck it out I love the look.
The saddle, mounts and straps will be powder coated black and tanks will be polished (I didn't feel like getting that dirty today).
Made two new exhaust pipes and mounted them with some 10/32" nutserts in the pipes and bolted through the body.
Let's see what else,Oh yea I mounted the visor. Damn that's it? Seemed like more.
Next up will be steps under the doors, beacon bar light on top of sleeper and grill insert. Still putting off the mirrors out of complete fear!! Hopefully I will get some more knocked off the list this weekend...Monday I have couple custom jobs to do,then another 100% scratch build.
Thanks for checking it out...where's my band-aids.............
