[Scratch Build] "Blade Transport" - Page 6

FannBlade you might be able to make your fuel tanks out of Aluminum tubing

I am thinking about how to make the rims out common things one might find, like v-groove pulleys

are you going for duals or the new super singles?

i always wanted to do this for my dad, he drives locally in a semi, but for 19 years he drove all kinds of petes, his recently sold 379 flat top looked the best. And of course, chrome shop mafia's work will make anyone like trucks! Goodluck, +subbed.

lol Im not so sure a mill and lathe is cheaper than getting it done somewhere.

Billet rims would be sick. What youve done so far looks great.. I cant believe how smooth you got the front part of the truck.

Check it out before you end up giving your back a death sentence with the wife because you know if you buy the mill and lathe that you will be sleeping on the couch for quite some time lol. Hope the couch you bought was comfy and that you did the "Oh **** I'm in the doghouse" test before buying it lol.
Yea like she's going to let me stay in the house! "You like the stuff some much maybe you better go sleep in the garage with it!"
I wish I would've never sold the mill and lathe I use to have. At least I still have all my machinist tools and cutting bits.
Here are the three I'm looking at.
Grizzly
Northerntool
Shop Fox

Well wouldn't be a true semi without 18 wheels. LOL
Actually I looked at some tubing yesterday, then I could machine some billet caps.

That's what I'm thinking. Billet and polished on the lathe. (Just got a chill go down my back). I'm still thinking an all aluminum flatbed trailer. i have a friend that could weld it for me then I could sand and buff it. Then I could make a case to resemble an oversize load to house all pc equipment. That way I can make some flashing LED beacon lights.

Buddy, I think that you were right with your earlier assessment of this computer. It is going to be a huge money pit lol. I can see why you want to buy a mill and lathe, it's not just for this computer but for other future projects too. Maybe if you could line up some customers to have you machine them stuff, then the wife wouldn't be so pissed about it and might let you sleep inside... on the couch of course lol.

ARGH, I was all excited about you actually putting OCN Trans onto the side of your rig! Stupid desk job. If I didnt hate being away for so long I would still be driving. I need my desktop.

That's the only part I don't like about the flatbed,I will lose alot of canvas to paint on. So if I go with the flatbed I will probably paint the "load" with OCN Transport. But I still like the idea of making a van all painted to match.

Iowa 80! Now that's a chrome shop. But their prices are HIGH!
60k would definitely dress it up!

I took a peek at those three hobbie lathe/mills you linked to
The Northern tool one to me does not look as stout as the other two
now the other two look like they both are made by Jet engineering just painted different colors.

Here's a load you could put on a flat bed
