Calling All Car Audio People!

Thread Starter
This is my first time going into car audio as I just got my license and my dads old truck. I don't know much about audio so if you guys have any useful information or websites that would be great if you'd like to share them.

I need your help with finding some audio equipment for my truck. Its a 2001 Ford F-250 Ext. Cab, I'm looking to put 2 10's under my back seat. I will mostly use these for rap music (bass). I might construct my own box since most of the subs I have been looking at have more mounting depth then I have in the box. I don't want to take out the back seat because I will most likely be needing them for friends to sit.

Here's some of the sub's I have been looking at:

JL w3v3's: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...p?series_id=24
I personally chose these because they sounded really good in my cousins Charger.... Yet he had 2 12's instead.

I'm really unsure of any other sub's as of which would sound the best. If you could recommend me others that would be great. Price range: $150-$200

As for amps:

Audiopipe AP1500w: http://compare.ebay.com/like/1705114...=263602_304662
Not too sure about this amp but from many people I have heard it performs at rated watts. This was recommended to me by a fellow OCNer.

Box:

Here's what I've found for a box: http://www.supercrewsound.com/commer...Id=19&catId=59

Make your own box.

It's not hard to do and takes very little carpentry skill. Plus you get to shape and carpet it how you want instead of generic, pre-made boxes.

Avoid the JL's. Over priced for what you get.

Let me know what your total mounting depth is, and total box size available per woofer. What you're doing for head unit, speakers, and amplifying speakers....then we'll talk .

I put the box in OP the total mounting depth would be 5 3/8s and 10's per woofer and I was looking at a touch screen head unit... not sure yet. As for speakers I don't know whats the best around for the best price.

Mkay, so 5 3/8" mounting depth....what about clearance between the top of the box and the bottom of the seat?

EDIT:
That's downfiring, so what about clearance from the woofer's face to the floor? What's the cubic feet per chamber?

I just did a quick search... Of course I know that I could get it for cheaper, just didn't search for it long enough.

Its 6" from the bottom of the seat to the floor of the truck... might be an inch off. I'm not sure about the clearance from the woofer to the floor nor the cubic feet per chamber. <-- Whats that?

Any decent subs won't work in that box then. They'd smack into the floor.

Cubic Feet per chamber is something you NEED to know. If that box is 1.0 cuft per chamber, that's one type of subwoofer. If its 0.5 cuft per chamber, that's completely different. Its something you HAVE to know when considering your subs.
