Need help to mod Asus P5Q Pro Turbo bios! - Page 3

I'm currently running Ket's version but I havent noticed not even one improvement over Official version..

That kinda of makes me wonder if there is any thing modded about it in the 1st place..

This m2102 supposed to hav better memory support (memory table from MF2) but still I haven't been able to run my KHX 1066MHz RAM @ advertised speed on this board not even with my CPU @ stock..

I've spent days trying everything from changing timings (EVERY TIMING AVAILABLE),Voltages(DRAM,NB),STRAPS but it was no go..

Eventually I've gave up and settled with running RAM:FSB=1:1 @ 918MHz CL5..

I know that my RAM is OK becouse I've ran it on EP45 board @ 1150MHz no problems @ all..

P.S: rgwoods run P95 LARGE FFT for @ least 6h but 12h would be ideal to fully test your OC stability..

Go on the last page or page before that of P5Q Pro/Pro TURBO thread and see my compleate settings for 450MHz FSB & my recommended metod of TESTING OC..(It will find any eventual weaknes in your OC)

Follow it in that exact order and if you pass then my friend you're ROCK SOLID..

I've tried today your oc settings posted at asus p5q pro turbo club, and I'm currently running my system with those settings, fsb=459 ram=918 like you.

I've tested with everest my ram at stock fsb speed and at 450 and 459:

here are the results:

memory benchmark @ 1066 5-6-6-18 ~ 1.98V (my settings)

read: 7688 mb's
write: 7094 mb's
copy: 7397 mb's
latency: 65.5 ns

cpu at stock 2.8ghz

memory benchmark @ 900 5-5-5-15 ~ 1.90v

read: 8189 mb's
write: 9544 mb's
copy: 9200 mb's
latency: 64.3 ns

cpu at 3,825ghz

memory benchmark @ 918 5-5-5-15 ~ 1.90v (current settings)

read: 8345 mb's
write: 9733 mb's
copy: 9547 mb's
latency: 63.5 ns

cpu at 3,901ghz

I've tested with intel burn test v2.4 with the maximum stress level for 10 times, and it's all good, except for the temperatures, with this vcore (1.3v) my cpu get a little hot.
I'm using only 1 fan on my corsair hydro 50 at the moment (noise free), at minimum rpm's.

At stock fsb and voltage I get 32ºc on idle and with vcore 1.3 and fsb 459 I get at idle 39ºC, on intel burn test I've hit 90ºC, but crash free, with your settings.

I think that my system is stable, but only with the prime test I'll be sure.

I'll try prime95 later on, or tomorrow.

That's good..

I've told you that your memory bandwidth will be better..

Even If you run 450MHz FSB and RAM @ 1080MHz (FSB:RAM=5:6) your bandwidth with 1080MHz would be on pair (or very close) with memory bandwidth @ 900MHz (FSB 450)..

One more thing:

I would recommend you to run FSB=450 OC as for 459MHz you might fail in P95 LARGE FFT (12h testing recommended) test..

If you fail @ 459MHz FSB just back down to 450MHz as difference is only 50MHz on CPU (3850MHz vs 3901MHz)

Maybe your H50 is not installed properly as those temps are HIGH..
Try to reseat it and to apply TIM again (don't use too much if it!!!)

I hit on same settings 70C in 20runs IBT on hottest core with CM Hyper212 which is two years old mid range cooler..

Download the new IBT v.2.50..

Use P95 v.25.8 build 5 or a newer ver. if it's available..

ocman, download it here, I've two 0602 versions, one is the original from Asus with the new intel RST, and the other version that it's my current, is a version modded by ket's on xtremesystems;

Reported additional fixes

These are things that were not intending to be fixed, but in due course of changing things got fixed.

1. Pull-ins. Apparently these pull-ins never worked, my changind of the EBB fixed them, apparently.
2. Better voltage regulation. Many report being able to OC further on less voltage as these mBIOSes have matured, this again is down to the replacement of the EBB. Typically the EBB I use is from the P5Q Premium, which uses 16 phase CPU voltage regulation. Clearly, asus undertook extensive tuning for the Premium. Using the EBB from the P5Q Premium allows users of the P5Q / Pro / -E (I think, forget if this is 16 phase or not) allows for the 8 phase designs to benefit from some of the additional tuning.

I'm running at 470 fsb with your settings, everything is smooth!

I've fixed the high temps, it was due to a setting on bios, qfan disable, I've enable it to standard (noise free as well) and the temps are fine, - 70º on intel burn test maximum load.

I've tested with memram and intel burn test a few times, it's all good.

Haven't tested with prime95, to many hours 6/12h :S

But I've a question for you,

with your settings my graphic card pass from 40/41ºº to 49/50º at idle (I'm using only the 7V pin, I can use the 12V, but no need on winter.)

I think that is due to PCIE sata voltage, so my question is can I drop the voltage or isn't this the cause?

I want to maintain this fsb (470)

Yeah I can run @ 4GHz no probl. but when I run P95 Large FFT then one of my cores fail about an hour into test..

You'll probably pass 12h of P95 SMALL FFT test like I have but that LARGE FFT test is pain in the a##..

But If you dont mind that (not being P95 LARGE FFT stable) then run it @ 4GHz.

But you'll not really notice any difference between 3.8 - 3.9 & 4GHz.. so that's why I want to be ROCK SOLID in any stress test that I run..

I think that GPU temp issue has nothing to do with PCIE voltage being set to 1.6V from 1.5V..

I think that raise in GPU temp is coused by raise of overall temp inside of your case as your system is heavily OC'd and that explains why your GPU IDLE temp is raised..

But yes you can change it back to 1.5 as it will not destabilize your OC..

I think that PCIE x16 slots operate @ 1.8V and that PCIE voltage in BIOS is for PCIE controller and not for actuall slot..
