latency bull

i just got my new ram ( 2gigs ) and i went 2 look at the timings...and the box said it was cas latency 2 but it registers as 3 now as far as i no cas latency is modest reason 4 buying ram...i was wondering if theres a way i can change this with my current stuff...mobo/lack of cash/lack of exsperiance : ( ?

Go into the BIOS and change it yourself to the default timings. Your BIOS did that as a precaution so it would load.

Not that big of a deal, now if you can't fire up your machine at the rating timings then I wouldsend it back

Also make sure you your not aleady OC'd when you put those in, that will change the timings, always reset the CMOS when installing new hardware like that (CPU or RAM)

Look at the sticker on the RAM to see what timings it shows its good for. If it shows different to what you paid for, RMA it.

i would try that...if i could access any thing in bios...my computers a media center hp id probly have 2 get an update my bios 2 do any of that...and im not shure if i no where 2 get a that update and how easy it would be 2 do that....thanx but any other sugestions

Go to the RAM tab in CPU-Z and it will tell you the recommended timings by the manufacturer.

and the sticker thing...i spent $200 on the 2 sticks and if there was any diffrence in the lableing on the sticks than that on the package...i would have done just that... idk i guess im just kinda depressed about it...if its alot of work ill just put it on the 2 do list

or you could just change the timings to what it says are the default ones... i just put new ram in today, and it had it at the settings my other ram was at. of course, i changed that and it runs where it should now... actually i overclocked it haha...

Most premade computers don't allow for adjusting in the bios.

If it is indeed a pre-built then you cannot change the timings, I figured it was for your desktop
