well its a done deal. i've traded my e6400 for a q6600. hopefully that'll help us in the folding race.
BUT
the bad news is, my sig rig is inactive for a couple of days, due to the q6600 trade & i'm rma'ing my 3870 & i have no idea when i'll get that back.

School holidays have finished here, i will be resuming my GPU folding as it were ~3 weeks ago. Hopefully i will be getting about 1.5k-3k ppd with the GPU client.

so i was anticipating, when i get my quad core on tuesday. how would this work out for our team. and i was reading over taerics overview and i was thinking this is the best way to help our team, out.

This option will count 2 cores against the team's core count. New 6/6/08.[/LIST]A reminder
what do you guys think?

2,000 points per day is a lot, but you might be able to do better with 3 cores if you can do it right. I would play around with it a little to see what would do the best.

Personally I would do all four cores in SMP and take the 2,000 point limit because you would be helping out the folding project the best in that way. The points here on OCN are just a silly game, you would be doing real work by using your Quad to the fullest by using SMP.

thats what i was thinking too. what do you guys think, pepsi, flyingfish, jcharlesc75?
it says that i'm receiving my q6600 later today but theres nothing on ups. but we'll see what happens. no info yet about my rma thru visiontek. i hope things speed up on it tho.

SMP with the Q6600 is probably the best way. 2k ppd cap isn't all that bad.

hey everybody, so i received the quad yesterday, but i can't do anything with it because i still don't have a video card to run in. (ironically, i wish i hadn't sold my 7600gt because i'd be all over it then)

well basically, i was thinking about it and since quad folding on a team requires some limitations, i thought about the 2k ppd limit. would be the best way for me as well for the team.

what my question is, how do i apply that? i know running dual instances of smp would be the most efficient way to maximize ppd but if i do that i can't be in the team races. so, how would i fold across all 4 cores?

i run vmware player + ubuntu (basically the version from bal3wolf)
would i just be running one instance? and use affinity to spread that to all 4 cores?
mm i just need some clarification on that.

thanks, everyone!
