Friday morning, while I was at my doctor's appointment, wife was complaining of very uncomfortable pains. She said that it was fine, as she's been having them for about a month now and been dealing with it. However, I could see it in her eyes, something was wrong and I practically had to force her to see her midwife. Being 30 weeks pregnant, one of the head RN's at her clinic came out and strongly recommended going to the ER.
At the ER, the doctor came in and prescribed chest x-ray, ultrasound on both legs, and a blood test, all for the same thing; blood clots. Since all 3 came back negative, the doctor prescribed a contract CT scan. Whaddayaknow? She's got chronic pulmonary embolism. When they found that out, a light bulb went off in her head and stated that she's been having the symptoms for a little over 2 years now.
The doctors can't put her in the OR, as she's pregnant, so they kept her overnight. The blood thinner they gave her seems to be working. Most blood thinners, especially the one they really want to give her, affect the baby in probably the most negative way imaginable. They had to dig deep in their medicine books to find one that least affected the baby, and since our baby is 30 weeks now, it's not going to harm her at all.
There is a downside to all of this, though. The CT scan puts wife at risk for breast cancer.
Anyway, I couldn't sleep in the room with wife, since she had a roommate, and the waiting room chairs resembled rocks. I'm gonna go crash now.
I got the new plugins all installed. I'll play with them when I get up.
PS: She's been discharged.
