SSD high temperature

My current temp. of my Vertex 2 120GB is 1C but while running HDtune, it had a maximum of 127C. (261F)

I was wondering if this is normal? I just installed Windows so everything is clean and all. Should I change any options?

Try running a similar HD bench or stress test and see if it read same. If so might have a problem there. You said clean windows install but is it new drive?

What are you using to measure it? Since it can't be below ambient is it literally freezing in your case or where you have the drive?

Do I win the award for 'coolest' (pun intended) SSD?

I don't know. It stays at 1C while browsing the internet and stuff, I've seen it randomly change to 80C but I have no idea why. The 127C value was probably wrong though (it's the max temp allowed instead of max temp measured I think)

When I had my ssd I had the same type of issues with temperature readings being 1c or 128c. I also checked the ocz forum the reason this happens is because hw mointor and hdtune are trying to read SMART data as if it was a regular spinning hard drive since solid state drives work different and the programs that normally read temperatures for drives can not do it correctly unless it is able to read the SSD type of SMART data.

Yes Zhany, that's what I was thinking. 1C and 100C+ are false readings.
OP
What firmware came with that drive, 1.23? I hope. I'm getting mine Fri or Sat. They went on sale today for $230, I paid $245 Sun.
