Well PC3200 at max will run at 400MHZ as PC2700 will Run at 333MHZ at max, In general iwwould Reccomend the 3200 as it gives you Extra headroom to overclock with aswel not to mention the Performance increase in general and in games. You need to check if your Motherboard Supports PC3200 ram first though before getting it.

I had this mobo one year and as far as I remember it is based upon the SIS 735 chipset that supports up to PC2100 DDR. This doesn't mean you can't use PC2700 or PC3200 DDR, but these modules would be underclocked @2100.
The baseline is that both PC3200 and PC2700 would work @ PC2100 frequency, so it's kinda pointless to buy a PC3200 over PC2700 since both of them would work at lower speeds. I had some PC2700 value memory that I used @PC2100 but with 2-2-2-5 timings, the advantage of underclocking the RAM is that you can tighten the timings.
BTW, you know there's a soft to help you OC your mobo? I remember there were no BIOS options for that, so I had to search a soft, so I used speedfan:
http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php It alowes to lift the FSB untill 143MHz wich in turn will drive up your memory from PC2100 to PC2300

Correct !.
That motherboard only has support for 1Gb of DDR with a max speed of 266MHz.

Having said that the cost and availability of new DDR400 is going to be much cheaper and easier to get.

Maybe look at a cheap motherboard upgrade to suit DDR400..here..for $50.00 and you get nf2 with DDR400 support and good overclocking options for that XP. Just food for thought.

wrong... that motherboard can support any 184-pin ddr sdram.
of course, it won't run at ddr400 if its ddr400 ram. it simply underclocks. my friend did something similar. lol
then again, upgrading the motherboard to get maximum bandwidth is suggested. maybe the proc too.

Believe it or not, some PC2700 RAM are more expensive than PC3200 RAM because of its availability and such. I would dig for the more inexpensive PC3200 RAM with the lowest timings (try looking for 2-3-3-6), which in turn will most probably run at 2-2-2-5 at PC2100 speeds.

Is the RAM set to Auto? It should default to the correct speed.

Does the BIOS allow youto set to DDR333, it should if you can adjust the timings?
BTW, if you have the timings to tight it may default to the lower speeds.
Get CPU-Z @ www.cpuid.com and compare your settings to the SPD specs on your RAM. You may find a correlation to your timings and the speed they are running at.
