Hey folke's,they don't get anymore noob than me on this overclocking stuff.I'm putting together a machine with the Asus P5ND2-SLI motherboard.I don't have the first clue how best to set thing's up,i'm not sure on the best 2gig pair of ram to use.I'm looking into corsair.I know this board has alot of cool feature's like AI-NOS,Precision tweak etc.I play a variety of games that I would love to play as smoothly as possible for a change,Oblivion,Gothic,Rome total war,And i run a clan that play's Battlefield 2,Call of duty 2,soldier of fortune 2 gold.I'm not sure how all this stuff work's.Could some of you folk's smarter than I please offer some advice?I would be most greatful!!!!!!!!!!It's tuff to find ram that this board support's.

Well looking from the specs above you'll have no trouble with any of the games... With games like oblivion and BF2 It's best to have 2 gigs of ram. Alot of guys go with the ocz ram. I'm sure someone will suggest other options!

Do you need help putting it together or just using the programs

have u overclocked at all? Most boards now go with 3200 400mhz. I've never heard of any real problems from using faster. You might try using one ram stick and going throught the motions in windows and games and then the other and see if you encounter any problems. Could be that you have a bad stick.

Oh no i've never overclocked before, this is all foreign to me.The stick i have in now is just a 533 ddr2,i don't even think its dual channel i picked up from comp usa cheap until i find a good dual pair to grab.I was really hoping to find someone with the same board and similar processor etc to what i have that could hopefully show the best way to set it up.LOL when you guy's throw these #'s out there it's like a foreign language to me,i'm a noob in progress on pc lingo.I almost need step by step guidance.I've looked at the intel guide's on overclocking,it may as well be written in spanish"which i don't speak"I can't make head's nor tail's of alot of it.

Is there anybody out there with this same motherboard,or who just know's a good 2 gig 240 pin dual channel pair of ram sticks for this setup?

and also is there something different that you have to do when using dual channel ddr2 ram,or do ya just stick it on the motherboard and go,I've never used it before is why i'm asking.I tried OCZ EL DUAL CHANNEL PC-5400 DDR2 667MHZ GOLD(2X1028) PAIR,and windows sometimes would not load up when it did if i tried any games they would crash and i would sometimes get the blue screen that said problem with ram.I know next to nothing about setting up timing's and such."note" when i took the ocz ram pair back out and just stuck a cheap 533mhz 1 gig stick in everything works fine. All the games don't run very smooth alot of graphic's lag.

Please remember I'm farely stupid on pc lingo so please respond in term's an idiot can understand lol thank's for any help and advice as alway's.
Thank's charliemack for all your help to i really appreciate it!!!!!

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 675

That's some good memory. The bad news is that your board doesn't overclock well, but you should be able to get about 20%-30%, just read up on the guides here and start trying settings.

Dual channel.....look at your RAM slots, they should be 2 different colors. Slot 1 and 3 should be one color and slots 2 and 4 a different color. To run in dual channel just plug one stick into slot 1 and one stick into slot 3, as long as the sticks are the same speed, and timings, they should run in dual channel. Buying sticks in matched pairs is the best way to make sure they will run in dual channel.
