Hi Guys, Iam more or less a noob at OCing. I have a 6800 GT PCIe card which iw anted to overclock. But its idle temp is 69C. Ambient is 50C. I dont think its supposed to be that hot. I live in India so wathers a bit hot here. Any advice would be much appreciated.

!!! Stop overclocking it, man! You need way more cooling, you shouldn't even be over 45*C at Maximum peek. If you don't go back to normal you're going to fry your processor!!!!

^ he was talking about the gpu not the processor mate. btw, itari, if u can get some AS5, slap it on ur GPU and resit the hsf. i would also suggest installing an additional fan blowing across ur graphic card to alleviate the temp problem.

btw, welcome aboard mate. enjoy the ride. and do fill ur system specs at the control panel.

Welcome to the forum If you go to "user cp" at the top of the page you can fill out your system specs in there.

A vid card can run at alot higher temps than a cpu but that is getting a little warm if you are looking at giving it an overclock. With ambient temps of 50 C then you have that issue to deal with. Either have an airconditioner running constantly to get the ambient down or go with some form of extream cooling wether it be a vapour or peltier style. Just adding a water cooling kit to it will most likely not do enough as the ambient is so high. Try taking the side off the case and see if that helps a little.

Ambient temp is as shown in forcewere driver settings. Cant i atleast raise the core by 50 MHZ and VRAM by.1 GHz? I cant afford any cooling right now. Here its hard to find quality products at affordable prices.

Why call it .1Ghz? just say 100Mhz.

Ambient temp isnt shown in forcewaredrivers. thats the core temp.

Well It has to be said that its not a good Temp for the card becasue on Absolute 100% Load you need to keep it under 80c so i would get some better cooling for it and backoff on the Overclock until you get a better cooling solution. It has to be said though in Comparison to the Hot climate you live in those temps are Expected.

For a better Cooling solution i would reccomend something like this : http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=91

I know its expected but myfriends have a coyplee of 6600 LE cards and they run at 43C max in idle. Thats why im stumped.
