Lend a hand on this build

Thread Starter
Planning to upgrade my signature comp to some newer stuff. Plan to upgrade the following:

1) Motherboard: I already bought a MSI Big bang from a good fellow member in this board. It is 1156 socket, but price was right so sticking to that socket.
2) CPU: #1 also means I made my decision on an intel chip. Thinking of a good i5. I saw in newegg i5-750 has a good following. But I am not sure how good of an overclocker it is. I would like to be able to take it to 4GHz stable or thereabouts. I am not too picky on how high I can go. 4GHz or thereabouts sounds fine to me. I overclocked my current elcheapo CPU to 3.25 at stock voltage and narry a problem whatsoever - very pleased with how it is handling. So, would be nice to get similar temperment chip - you know what I mean.
3) RAM: This is the one I have the biggest trouble with. I would like some decent RAM that is optimal for the CPU I choose, but I do not want anything that will break a bank.

Any help, suggestions, opinions are welcome. Budget is undecided, but mostly prefer something that I will not have to take a second mortgage.

For a CPU, I would personally go for the i7-860 or 870, but I also really enjoy having the additional threads. Both of those as well as the 750 are easy overclockers. I keep my 860 right around 3.2 because I dont need the additional power of a heavier overclock and I want to keep my temps lower. All in all you should be happy with any of those cpus.

For ram, you can pick of some DDR3 1600 or 2000 for a good price nowadays. Get yourself a nice 2x2gb kit and you should be set.

you could get these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=3621681&SID=

I myself am going to be purchasing the i5 750 with this ram for my hackintosh build.
